LANCASTER — The Antelope Valley Economic Development & Growth Enterprise, better known as AV EDGE, hosted its annual installation event Thursday in the Antelope Valley Harley Davidson Legacy Hall at the AV Fair & Event Center.
The celebratory event honored outgoing board members, officially installed new board members and recognized key accomplishments and individuals and team members who have contributed to the regional goals of the AV EDGE.
The event specifically honored outgoing board President Martin Tompkins and officially installed incoming board President Suzy Ghazarossian, whose term formally begins on July 1.
Tompkins served as board president for the past two years. Under his leadership, AV EDGE significantly contributed to the region’s economic growth and development, providing tools and resources to industry of all sizes, including the launch of an online site sector tool, hosting high-visibility state and federal leaders developers, and entrepreneurs ensuring that the Antelope Valley region is a relevant, viable business friendly option for individuals and companies not only looking to grow, but to thrive in today’s economy.
“Martin’s leadership exemplified the entrepreneurial spirit that makes the Antelope Valley a great place to do business,” AV EDGE Executive Director Drew Mercy said. “We will certainly miss our daily interactions, and look forward to Martin remaining as an active member.”
He added, “I have had the privilege of working on several projects with Suzy, and I am excited for our organization and what the future holds under Suzy’s inspirational leadership. I am confident that Suzy’s commitment to all sectors of industry, including health, education, real estate, aerospace, and entrepreneurial businesses, will bring innovative opportunities to the AV EDGE, our members, and the region at large. “
Ghazarossian has been a dedicated member of the AV EDGE board since 2022. She has served as secretary and, most recently, as vice president, playing a key role in advancing AV EDGE’s mission to drive thoughtful, diverse economic growth across the Antelope Valley. Her installation as president marks a significant milestone for the organization as it continues to build a resilient, inclusive regional economy through strategic partnerships, legislative advocacy, and business engagement.
Ghazarossian brings more than 20 years of health care leadership experience to her new role, with a career that spans both clinical and executive positions in some of Southern California’s most respected institutions. She currently serves as the area administrator for Hospital and Health Plan Operations at Kaiser Permanente Antelope Valley, a position she has held since 2021. In this role, she oversees hospital and health plan operations, quality metrics, and patient safety initiatives while working closely with local healthcare leaders to ensure high-quality, affordable care for the community.
“It’s an incredible honor to serve as President of AV EDGE and to help lead the Antelope Valley into its next era of growth and innovation,” Ghazarossian said. “I believe that strong communities are built through collaboration across sectors. I’m excited to work alongside our partners to foster economic development, community health, and resilience in the Antelope Valley.”
Ghazarossian began her career as a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist at Saint John’s and later specialized in immunohematology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Her leadership journey includes managing a blood donor center and a therapeutic apheresis unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, as well as playing a pivotal role in launching a fully automated hospital at Century City Doctors’ Hospital. She joined Kaiser Permanente in 2016 as director of Laboratory Operations at the Panorama City Medical Center, where she led critical services during the COVID-19 pandemic—an experience she describes as one of the most meaningful of her career. In 2024, she led the acquisition and opening of the new Kaiser Permanente Antelope Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center, expanding Kaiser Permanente’s footprint in the Antelope Valley.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Suzy holds a doctorate in health education and has served as an instructor in immunohematology at California State University, Dominguez Hills. She is a former president of the board of Directors of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of health care leaders. Her appointment as AV EDGE President reflects her deep commitment to community well-being and her belief in the power of cross-sector collaboration to shape a stronger, more vibrant Antelope Valley.
